Hi,

Since whois privacy is now included with OpenSRS does Resellone plan to include it also?

Kind Regards,

Les

Hi James,

I hope all is going great with you.

I have a question and I think you may know the answer.

Where do you find the setting to make orders for domains go pending? I just renewed a domain and it did not go pending. Is pending only for new orders?

Kind Regards,

Les

Hey Les,

Things are going great .

I'm not sure about the pending on domains names I will look in to it and get back with you ....... our billing keeps domains in pending till we process the order.

Ok Les,

On the main page of RWI scroll down to the bottom of the page and find this:
Tech Contact Information :

Click that link and you will find the settings for domain registration.

One thing to remember is if you are using the register.cgi script with OpenSRS it will over ride this setting so you have to be using the reg_system.cgi in order for pending rules to be followed.

Hi James,

Thanks for the info. I knew I had change this before but, I could not remember where it was hiding. That is just a funky place IMHO.

I am using AWBS and I do have the setting for checked for pending. The new domains do go pending. I then have to log into my RS1 account and let them go. I like it this because it gives me a little time to review the transaction.

Maybe a bug on the AWBS side.

Again, Thanks for the help.

Kind Regards,
Les

Thanks Aussie, but credit really goes to the original author at the link posted.

There are many issues with the Whois registry that need to be worked out. Perhaps this forum and provide some suggestions.

On one hand you certainly do not want to have scammers being able to hide their enterprises behind fake whois info. On the other hand, you dont want unscrupulous players using your public Whois information to solicate, rob, or pose a threat to your private information or business location.

For example:
Untold millions of individuals, not businesses, own domain names and this can expose their private home address through WhoIs.

Millions of businesses become targets of pushy marketers or scammers by exposing email and contact information.

Pay to hide your WhoIs information.
So you can pay a "Privacy Manager" service 10-15/ year to hide your registration information.

Godaddy and other registrars use the threat to take your domain name away if the information is false, with their service to hide your registration information. That raises my Ire.

Why does WhoIs registration data have to be Public Data?
Whats next? Do you have to expose my Facebook, MySpace, LinkedIn and all other social sites where I have registered a user name?

The difference between the old ballplayer and the new ballplayer is the jersey. The old ballplayer cared about the name on the front. The new ballplayer cares about the name on the back.
