Hi,

Everytime I check this forum out, I am seeing that half of the new messages make no sense, somebody is talking about buying property on moon, the other one says he is a sociable guy and liked this forum blah blah. Luckily this forum is not so popular yet. It might become quite problematic if this doesnt stop in time...

I think that there must be something to stop this nonsense by making user registrations more strict. For example another forum that I am registered to (btw using 3.6.0 version) is using image verification at registration. I think it is a feature of 3.6.0, I am not a forum expert after all however I dont like seeing the messages of the bots at all.

Perhaps it is time to upgrade the forum? There are also minor security issues with 3.5.1 I think.

Thanks,
Evren

Yeah, I've noticed the same things.
Nobody seems to be checking this place and deleting the bot/spam threads.

I know that the vB version is out of date. The latest stable right now is 3.6.0.
I already made a thread to let them know about this, but it doesn't seem that anyone cares.

When they'll get a MySQL injection, then they will probably "look into it".

Well... it cant be so difficult to upgrade the forum really, otherwise nobody would be upgrading their forums ever. But lets wait until it gets hacked few times :)

I know. But it's how EV1 does it.

I think I even needed to email the managers to tell them that the EV1Servers forum was out of date, some time ago. Time has passed by and it's now still out of date!

My apologies. I've been trying to keep up with the spam as much as possible, but I was out sick the last two days.

I did make a change to the rules of the forums, that new users cannot post a hyperlink in a thread until they have made at least 15 post, which seems to have cut down on the spam posts a lot. Paulius, would you resend that email to domainmanger@resellone.net please? I asked the person who created this forum to look into it when you sent the original email, and I'll follow up with him again.

Well, that 15 message thing stopped me when I wanted to post a link :) However it still doesnt stop people from sending messages with bots. As a matter of fact I wanted to post a link 'now' and got stopped by the restriction.

You should make something to cause the registrations to become more difficult. After all, it is also for your own good also, you dont have to run after spam all day long if they dont appear in the forums at first place.

Thanks,
Evren
