View Full Version : any quick way to update contact for multiple accounts?
I have just changed my fax number, and while I'm at it, I would like to remove the fax number I entered under my contact information all together for ~75 domains due to it getting fax spammed from the whois. (and I don't believe it's actually used for any legitimate purpose, anyway, correct?)
Many of these domains are in independent client subaccounts where I've listed myself as the tech contact.
Is the only way to accomplish removing my fax number to login to each individual client account and update the contact for each sub-account one at a time?
The old network solutions contact handles would certainly come in handy here where you set the contact handle for each domain, and then if you need to update your contact information, you simply update your handle and all domains with that handle assigned are updated with a single click.
Oh neat - I did not realize there was a action=bulk_domain_contact_change feature that appears to make this quite easy.
Looks like bulk domain changes are put in a queue for manual review and not too many people have used this feature as I got ID #8 :) (unless this is per account and I just didn't realize previous actions were put into this queue.)
Will know in 24-48 hours whether this worked.

The RWI also has a "Bulk Domain Change" feature about halfway down, at the bottom of the "Domain Registration Administration" section... you give it a text file or list of the domains you want affected, and then put in the contact info you want changed... and presto, it does it. Can even unlock and re-lock domains as needed.
I haven't used it on ResellOne, but when I used to use this on Tucows, it did about 200 domains in ~45 minutes.
Yes, that's what I discovered (but I never realized it was there until today.) A very neat feature!
I tried 2 domains as a test and it's been an hour and a half so far, but maybe it's in a queue for manual review by resellone staff - I'm not sure.

No, an hour and a half is actually a long time to wait. Did you put in an email address to be notified when the bulk change was complete?
Yes, but no email and nothing has happend yet.
When I look under my "View Change Request Queue" I still see:
Request ID 8 Description domain contacts Request Date 06-OCT-2006 13:32:35 Current State QUEUED
What I'm trying to do is to erase the fax number since I don't think there is a legitimate need to post the fax number and I'm getting fax spam from evil doers grabbing the fax number from the whois database. So I checked the fax number for all contacts to change it from the old number to blank, checked the box for "apply to locked domains" and entered my email address. Maybe it doesn't like the blank number (even though it's optional?) I'm not sure as it just says "queued" still.
Brooke -- any chance you could have a look at this. Still just says "queued" now several days later.
8 domain contacts 06-OCT-2006 13:32:35 QUEUED
Anyone have any ideas? 5 days in the Queue now.

Have you e-mailed support? Brooke's appearance in here last week notwithstanding, I'm getting the distinct impression that they're not monitoring the forums as much as they used to.
Thanks Kasey,
Yes, emailed support@ yesterday.
Thanks to Chad in support, the developers have now fixed the bulk change system and it's working great. Many thanks.
P.S. I should add that now that this feature is working, it's an amazingly powerful tool that is simply wonderful to have. Thank you Resellone!
Hmmm, might be stuck again. The requestes that worked on the 12th/13th all took just a few minutes.
Today's batch request has been in the queue for 12 hours again :(
Edit: fixed the same day thanks to resellone. Thanks!
