View Full Version : Managed DNS, some questions
Hello,
I was testing this feature but I was wondering:
1) If the activation has a cost, I saw a $0.15 additional charge for each domain, but this is not mentioned anywhere in resellone.net pages, when I subscribed I thought it was included in domain registration fee itself just like the url forwarding service.
2) Will be possible to automatically set up a DNS management service for a newly registered domain through API?
Thanks

There should not be an additional cost for anyone. What pricing teir do you have?
I'm not sure if the API will allow any domain ordered to have Managed DNS, but I've kicked the question over to Tucows and I'll put an update in this thread as soon as I have a response.
When you activate a dns management service for a domain you are charged $0.15
The main concern is regarding the unability to order a domain with DNS management directly from API, if so the API automation would be almost useless if we have to process DNS management orders manually for each new domain.
Thanks

Can you please tell me where do you see this fee $0.15? Is it one time? Laurie told me that this service is free?
As far as I have seen each time you activate the service your account is charged, you can see it activating a DNS management plan here: https://resellers2.resellone.net/resellers/index.cgi?action=order_main_menu

I would really like to fix the pricing problem for you. Please let me know which pricing plan you have.
Yes, you can setup any domain ordered using your API to automatically have managed DNS, it just requires two steps to do so.
First send a domains API called SW_Register to register the domain, then send an order for Managed DNS for that particular domain your customer just provisioned. The API command to create an order for Managed DNS is called Create Order, and is in the Managed DNS API documentation (coming soon).

Brooke, I just checked and this is happening on mine too... I'm on Tier A.

Thank you, kasey. I've updated the tier A pricing again, to make sure the price is $0.00. The change, however, will not take effect until midnight tonight. If anyone who has posted in this thread was actually charged $0.15 for Managed DNS, or any other amount, please email domainmanager@resellone.net with your reseller ID and I'll credit what you paid for Managed DNS to the balance of your account.
When will be that documentation available, any news about the ETA?

Would like to know if API is working for anyone?

We are still working on rebranding the API, in order to get all the specifics right, it is taking longer then we expected, but we don't want to put it out there until we are completely sure that it is right.
so free DNS hosting with 6.49 pricing?
From what I saw in the resellone website when I subscribed DNS management, url forwarding, auto renew options and email aliasing were supposed to be offered at no additional charge.

You are correct, there are no charges for the DNS management. Just the fee for the domain.

The domain mgmt interface does not appear to be working with the following error:
Command failed: NSI registry is temporary unavailable
